Suan Rot Fai Park Bangkok is a bit of a concealed gem. While it’s incredibly popular with locals, a lot of tourist have no idea where it is. It’s only a taxi trip from Chatuchak Market, that’s visited by countless people every year, yet next to none of them visit this excellent park. So, do not be one to miss out on Suan Rot Fai Park Bangkok too!

Suan Rot Fai Park Bangkok was opened on 28 July 2002 and called by the Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. The park covers an area of 0.6 square kilometres and is one of the “must visit” parks in Bangkok.

Before the park was transformed into a public park, it was a golf course that was used by the State Railway of Thailand. Residues of the old golf course, including fairways, sand pitches and water barriers, have been converted into leisure spaces. One small section is maintained for young golf players to practice their swing. The park likewise features a big Sports Complex with a swimming pool, a huge pond, and the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.

The park is frequently utilised for cycling. It has a winding 3 kilometre track for both cycling and walking around the park. At the start of track, there is a rental shop where visitors can rent bikes. There is a lake where people can also rent paddle boats to go around the lake.

The other interesting point is a mini town, aimed at small children to admire. The town includes Bangkok’s well-known buildings and tourist attractions in a scaled-down version. Two playgrounds with sandy flooring use a range of climbing and play devices are also available for the kids.

Less known are the public sports facilities on the riverside edge, including 9 tennis courts, a basketball court, three five-a-side football pitches, a sand box volleyball court and a badminton court.

The nearby MRT station is Chatuchak and the BTS station is Mo Chit.
